I wrote this in a time crunch before taking off to FaeFusion, a Fusion partner dance weekender in PA. I've always wanted to DJ my own music, and naturally I procrastinated a whole year before making something to do exactly that. Whoops. But for writing this in one night, it ain't bad. (I highly recommend listening to it with decent headphones/speakers to get the full depth of the bass.)

This was made for a Micro Fusion set of mine. I found a cool sound to start with and just let me brain do its thing. As the lyrics came, I started to understand that I was writing about my autistic experience of feeling like an outsider, like I wasn't given the right social rulebook everyone else seems to have gotten. I often feel like an alien in everyday life, and I know a lot of my fellow autists feel the same. So, this one's for us.

It's really healing, however, to know so many people relate to this narrative, and we can find belonging in each other's company and shared experience.

This song also relates to my lived experience with psychedelics. I've been on a long break from them because there have a been a few trips now that have convinced me I am 1) from the stars or 2) living in a simulation. Neither of those perspectives have been healthy for me, and I'm grateful I've done a great deal of healing since my last trip in 2020. If you relate, you are not alone 💜
